Capturing the art of car design in wire
LOTUS TYPE 47 EUROPA
The starting point for my sculptures was the Lotus Type 47 having owned the real car.

A really destinctive shape penned by Ron Hickman in the 1960's, the car became extremely successful both on and off the racing track and epitomised Colin Chapman’s obsession with simplicity and lightness for his Lotus cars.

This work aims to capture the distinctive shape of the orignal 'breadvan' esque form. Very similar to the Lamborghini Miura from the windscreen forward and unique from the windscreen back !

Original car colours varied in period, however this sculpture is painted in the original matching paintwork of Lime Green.
